December 3, 2011, dogs of all breeds, sizes, and shapes, will be on display, to take part in the BUBA DOG SHOW at the Stafford County ground. From 9 am onwards owners will enter with their dogs, and get ready for the judging of that particular category. After their canine has been judged, the owners can leave. The show will be declared closed, after the last canine has been judged.
Some of the rarer breeds that will be judged during the competition are names like Schnauzer, Shihtzu,Tibetan Spaniel, Sharpei, etc. Categories for judging, span: ‘bitches’, ‘minor puppy bitch’, ‘open bitch’, ‘junior dog’, ‘junior bitch’, etc. For those dogs being entered in the competition, a fee of Pd Sterling 6 will be charged, and if the same dog is entered for more than one title, an additional Pd Sterling 2 will be charged for each additional entry. For dogs that are not being entered in the competition, but brought as spectators by their owners, a fee of Pd Sterling 2 is applicable. Only puppies which are six months and older, can be entered for the competition, and the sitting Committee has the option to refuse any entry if they deem so fit.
During the competition, it is strictly forbidden that any ‘mating’ between dogs present, takes place. Also, if the need arises to use cooking stoves, the same should be kept at a safe distance – away from the marquees, and other damageable furniture, such as benches, etc.
Prizes distributed during the Competition do not comprise of prize money. Instead, medals, ribbons, shields, etc. would mark out the winners. Some of the titles which the canines will be vying for, are:
- Best Puppy in the Show
- Best of Breed
- Reserve Best of Breed
- Reserve Best of Group
- Best of Show
Owners are expected to be familiar with all the Kennel Club Regulations, when preparing their dogs for the show.
Helpful Advice for Dog Owners:
Hot and humid weather, heavy trafficked roads resulting in time consuming travel, can translate into extreme discomfort for the canines. As such, preferably cars with air-conditioning should be considered when transporting the dogs. Otherwise the dogs need a lot of fresh air, while sitting in the car. If possible a couple of stops should be made, and the dogs given water to drink. If there is heavy vehicular traffic, owners could consider leaving earlier, ensuring a smooth drive, and timely arrival at the Competition Grounds.
On arriving at the Competition Grounds, owners should not leave their dogs locked in their cars. Any owner found guilty of this act, his/her car will be subject to entry by force, to remove the dog. No such omission will be allowed by the Kennel Club, whether it be by accident or design. In the case of any dog defecating in any of the authorized areas of the Ground, owners are expected to remove/clean up such mess. Failure to do so, can prevent the owner from entering his/her dog at future Competitions.
